In the past, ETH Zurich was all about calculation. Today, the emphasis is on research, thinking and writing. The Chair for History of Technology is located in the former computing center of ETH Zurich.

The building labeled “RZ” was built in the early 1970s to house the growing number of computer scientists and operators in the new IT services of the institute. The photographs show the building and its occupants shortly after completion in 1971.
