Databanking. Zur Digitalisierung des Finanzsektors 1960-2008

Prof. David Gugerli

Das Seminar untersucht die Verzahnung zweier Entwicklungslinien, welche die Geschichte des ausgehenden 20. und beginnenden 21. Jahrhunderts massgeblich geprägt haben: der gewaltige Bedeutungszuwachs des Finanzsektors in westlichen Wachstumsgesellschaften und die Entwicklung rechnergestützter Datenbankentechnologien. Dabei soll mit Hilfe der Lektüre heterogener Materialien (Zeitungsartikel, Geschäftsberichte sowie computer- und betriebswissenschaftliche Papers) geklärt werden, was es geheissen hat, das Bankenwesen mit Rechnertechnologien umzubauen und im grossen Stil „databanking“ zu betreiben. Was bedeutete dieser Wandel für die Unternehmensstruktur, für die Verwaltung von Kunden und für die Steuerung von Geld- und Informationsflüssen?
